Whitehall Gymnastics Club – Parents/Carers Code of Conduct
As a parent or carer of a gymnast at Whitehall Gymnastics Club, you play a vital role in supporting your child’s development, enjoyment, and safety in gymnastics. We ask all parents and carers to follow these guidelines:
-
Encourage participation, never force it. Support your child to enjoy gymnastics at their own pace.
-
Prioritise attendance. Regular attendance is essential for progress. If your child must miss a session, inform the coach as early as possible.
-
Respect and appreciate volunteers, coaches, and officials. Their time and expertise allow your child to take part.
-
Focus on effort and performance, not just results. Celebrate your child’s progress and commitment.
-
Ensure your child is prepared for each session. Gymnasts should wear appropriate clothing, have long hair tied back, and remove all jewellery before training.
-
Respect decisions of coaches and officials. Teach your child to do the same.
-
Avoid criticism of other children, parents, or coaches. Negative comments can be upsetting and are not tolerated.
-
Be courteous and respectful at all times. Aggressive or threatening behaviour toward members, staff, or volunteers will not be accepted.
-
Encourage, do not criticise. Positive reinforcement helps children thrive.
-
Do not use social media to contact coaches about gymnastics matters. Use official channels such as email or scheduled meetings.
-
Raise concerns with the appropriate staff member. If issues arise, request an appointment at reception or email your child’s coach rather than interrupting training.
-
Reinforce the importance of effort over winning. Teach your child that doing their best is more important than the outcome.
-
Communication guidelines. Messages to coaches should only be used for emergencies or notifying absences. Email or booked appointments should be used to discuss progress, competition levels, or other matters.
-
Use social media responsibly. When discussing your child’s gymnastics online, maintain a positive and respectful tone that reflects well on yourself, your child, and the club.
-
Fees and payments. If fees remain unpaid after 7 days, a 5% late payment fee will be added. After 10 days, your child may be removed from the class list and the space offered to someone on the waiting list.
Please note: Breach of any club policies or codes of conduct may result in termination of membership at Whitehall Gymnastics Club.
